"It was for freedom that Christ has set us free..." Gal 5:1

Picture of Al Gore from API care about our environment. I do not want to trash our planet. I would like to see the beauty of the earth as well as its ability to sustain life (especially human life!) preserved for future generations.

But I get concerned that “environmentalism” has been hijacked by a socialistic or “liberal” worldview.

The flagship issue seems to be global warming and blaming that warming on human beings.

We are told that almost all scientists believe humans are causing global warming and thus we need to act!

So… Do most scientists believe global warming is caused by human beings? Check out this article and begin to decide for yourself: http://www.smh.com.au/news/environment/gore-gets-a-cold-shoulder/2007/10/13/1191696238792.html

Here are some quotes from the article:

ONE of the world’s foremost meteorologists has called the theory that helped Al Gore share the Nobel Peace Prize “ridiculous” and the product of “people who don’t understand how the atmosphere works”

“We’re brainwashing our children,” said Dr Gray, 78, a long-time professor at Colorado State University. “They’re going to the Gore movie [An Inconvenient Truth] and being fed all this. It’s ridiculous.”

“We’ll look back on all of this [Human caused global warming fears] in 10 or 15 years and realise how foolish it was,” Dr Gray said.

“The human impact on the atmosphere is simply too small to have a major effect on global temperatures,” Dr Gray said.

“It bothers me that my fellow scientists are not speaking out against something they know is wrong,” he said. “But they also know that they’d never get any grants if they spoke out. I don’t care about grants.”

Remember, when you hear that “one expert” predicting hurricane stuff – it might be referring to this guy! And he seems to think it is hype. What is going on here?

I’m really glad you posted this. I’ve been incredibly curious as to why no one seems to speak out with an opposing viewpoint to Al Gore’s global warming theory. There’s usually always two sides to the coin, but in this case the media and general population seem to just accept and agree with Mr. Gore’s theory. I know some people disagree in the general public, but unfortunately many of us don’t have the scientific background to say WHY we disagree with the global warming phenomenon. It was refreshing to hear this man’s perspective, and interesting to note that perhaps others aren’t speaking out for fear of their reputation or loss of funding. This definitely made me go “hmmmm…” ;)
I do believe the earth is ours to steward, and I support and participate in efforts to make the earth cleaner and healthier. But I’m not going to get caught up in the hype that the earth is going to destroy us because we didn’t take care of it. It’s hard to swallow, particularly when you look at it through a global lens and not just through American eyes. Most of the globe doesn’t live the excessive lifestyle that some of our major urban areas do. Our “big city” impact might not be a very good one, but it doesn’t seem like enough to destroy the rest of the globe, where the majority of the population live simple rural lifestyles. Very eco-friendly. ;)

It always comes back to character. Many want money more than truth.

I have already heard about Dr. Gray’s conference in North Carolina and totally agree with his point or view. Personnally, I think Al Gore is getting “old” with his fear mongering tactics concerning the planet about to explode and species disappearing from the globe. Not too long ago, there was a series in the Montreal Gazette about global warming “On thin Ice” and one of the articles talked about how, of all things , bears are now moving to other areas in the very northern part of Canada to find some new stumping grounds. They were telling of how they also are altering their diet by chosing new types of food to eat.
I too have always believed that the earth goes ever so often through a natural change to rebalance its ecosystem.
Last year, our school invited 2 “regular” citizens to come and speak to our students about ways we could save this planet. Some of the questions, they could not even answer because as they said: “well, you know…we are not really experts on the subject” Hmmmm!! Another thing that bugged me about them – when asked why they were addressing young kids instead of instructing the parents about what to do, they simply answered that it was easier to convince young minds…pretty scary if you ask me – talk about brain washing the least of them…
Of course, we need to be careful with what we use to clean, dispose of and so on. I think one of the problems right now is that everything we send for recycling (because something is recycled only when re-used!!) can take many years before being processed. Compost is a good idea if we have the right equipment…
One thing that is not talked about very much in the global warming agenda is the population control used as a way to not populate the earth too much (countries like China for instance). So, we should be careful what we are going to chose as a way to save the future of this planet, without jeopardizing our countries’ economy and associations.

Global Warming is real and it is mostly man-made. It is not hard to understand if you look at the science. Check out realclimate.com or look on the Grist website under “How to Debate a Global Warming Skeptic”. Unfortunately big oil, big coal and libertarian think-tanks are financing campaigns to spread misinformation about global warming. For more information on these deceptive practices check out the essay on Exxon mobile on the Union of Concerned Scientist webpage and read the Mother Jones article “Some like it Hot” also on line. Please don’t be fooled by the tactics of corrupt anti-American corporations.
