You made the statement that President Obama should keep his heart open to God. If we want the politicians to act according to Christian principles, then Christians need to start acting like true converts. Today, when I enter most churches they have a watered down soggy hamburger with a bottle of wine, that is 90% muddy water. Or worse they give me cake and ice cream but no meal. When we go to church we should receive a spiritual dinner. The followers of Jesus have settled for 3rd rate Christianity. Where are the Keith Greens, Leonard Ravenhills, and Charles Finneys?

It has been argued to me by many people that many of the men who signed our Constitution and Declaration of Independence were not actually Christians, but deists. I am not personally convinced this is true. Yet, the Lutheran Church in the colonies supported the Revolution. There was a huge influence on our founder fathers because there was a huge Christian presence upon our nation.

Thomas Jefferson, a non-believer, actually supported Christian missionaries with federal money.

When Christians act according to Biblical principles our nation will have to change. We have forgotten that Harriet Tubman was a Christian. We have forgotten Dr. Benjamin Rush who spoke out against killing and slavery. A devout believer who also signed the Declaration.

No one remembers that John Quincy Adams made certain his children knew the Bible.

The reason we have had at least 2 Presidents that are pro -choice, (I am being nice here to a few who never truly took a stand on the issue), is that Christianity is no longer appealing. Our Christian culture is being reflected in a bad way. We have churches who are afraid of the government. The Lutherans in 1776 were not afraid to speak their mind. The Quakers and American Baptists were not afraid to take a stand against slavery during the 19th century. Yet, in the 21st our pastors are terrified of losing their tax free status.

If American Christians stop being lukewarm the United States Government will turn around and reflect Christian principles.

Hopefully this explains my statement.

You cannot put your faith in the governments of men. Wake up America! It is time to rise up out of our sleepy dead churches. Get pro active. Sing songs that call out to God and stop singing empty meaningless stuff. Repent! Get right with the Lord. Visit the criminals in the prison. Help the sick. Feed and clothe the orphans. Live the Christian life and our nation will have to change. We have forgotten our first love and therefore we have a leader this country deserves.
