What Consensus on Global Warming?

Here is an interesting article about global warming that does a couple of things:

1) It asks if global warming is really caused by humans.
2) It asks if global warming is actually even harmful to humans.

This article at earthtimes.org even suggests that global warming has been historically beneficial to humans!

The Article Quotes Dennis Avery, Senior Fellow of the Hudson Institute:

“Two thousand years of published human histories say that the warm periods were good for people,” says Avery. “It was the harsh, unstable Dark Ages and Little Ice Age that brought bigger storms, untimely frost, widespread famine and plagues of disease.” [Read More]

  1. There is an interesting article on Global Warming fin the last survey from the Barna Group: “Born Again Christians Remain Skeptical, Divided About Global Warming”.

There was also an interesting article in the Montreal Gazette (Sept.17, 2007) “On Thin Ice – Warming Polar bears adappt – hunters follow suit”. While some bears suffer the consequences of the melting caps in the Bay of Hudson’s area, other species benefit from it. It’s also said that bears in Northern Labrador “…appear to have changed their diet…feeding on geese, shrubs and roots.” Just goes to say that nature does take care of itself and it certainly has a way of renewing itself when needed.

  2. Oh! Oh! I got something in the mail today that I wanted to share and so here it is:

“According to leading scientists, many of the worst effects of global warmin can be prevented if we act NOW to start cutting carbon dioxide pollution.

“There’s not a moment to waste! Because those same scientists are predicting catastrophes around the globe if we do NOT start making those steep cuts in pollution.

“Right now, you can take two simple steps that will have a huge impact on the outcome of this crisis. Please read on for more details…”

    The two steps?

    1). Sign their petition.
    2). Send them money.

How Robert Redford and the NRDC got my address I do not know. Maybe Yes! magazine sold it to them?

  3. Darn…I threw it away. I wonder how many trees they cut down to send that out. And the amount of CO2 emitted by the mail truck. And the chemicals in that glossy paper. Not to mention the ink.

  4. Hello down under…Hope you continue enjoying those koalas and maybe some kangaroos too!!

The Barna site’s web address is simply http://www.barna.org and go to “Born Again Christians Remain Skeptical, Divided About Global Warming”. There are also some more articles on that same topic.

Our government here in Canada is now being threatened with being toppled on the part of the Bloc Quebecois (the “federal” branch of separatists!!!) if Mr. Harper does not comply to the Kyoto Accord. Hum! I doubt that…

Saw some geese flying south today. What a sight. Guess they’re trying to escape the smug on this side of the hemisphere!

    salutations until next time!
